Default Anyone else have stuff held hostage since Fractions?

I am not sure if this affected anyone else but I now have a useless PVP spot! I moved all my storage from my PVP character so I could delete my old and make one of the new classes for the fractions PVP weekend. I moved some of the items back onto the new character since storage is tight with just four characters. Now I come back and my PVP character is locked and Arena Net just says tough Luck! I am now considering quitting this game and steering as many people away from it as possible since they have such poor customer relations. Anyone here in the same boat? They should have warned me and I would have set my character back to one of the original six before the weekend ended or not placed the items into the PVP storage and had them locked! Then I could have deleted them, customer support seems useless anyone ever have a good experience with them?

From Anet:
Hello,
Thanks for contacting Guild Wars Support. We can not change the character's classes nor retrieve any items that are in the character's packs. At this time the characters will remain locked and you can choose to leave them on your account until Guild Wars: Factions is released. At the present time it is planned that they will be unlocked for play upon purchase of Guild Wars: Factions, however please keep an eye on http://www.guildwars.com for any announcements regarding how these characters will work upon the release of the game. If you have any further questions or comments, feel free to contact us.

This seems sort Mafia like if I want those items back I gotta buy the Fractions pack or ELSE!

Wow, that's amusing. I was wondering if it was wise to delete my PvP character on Saturday night - now I'm glad I did.

I guess you're a sure bet to buy the expansion now, eh?

Yes I too have my PVP assassin locked with some items on him. The trouble in my situation, is I dont remember what I even have LOL! So I am terrified to delete that char. I too have a storage crisis on my hands so I have to use that slot. I am going to have to delete that assassin and just hope there isnt anything of value on it.

They should let you log into the game and have access to storage and pack items. And YES they should have warned that the char would be COMPLETELY locked down so not to put any valuables on them. I would have been just fine testing out the new classes and just been careful not to put any items on those chars.

I can feel your pain, but didn't Anet announce clearly enough that the "try new classes" event will end on Jan 23rd? Really, what did you think would happen after the event's end? Most people I talked to thought Anet would just delete the new chars from your account - be glad that they didn't do THAT.

The 2 new professions were a PREVIEW only. That means that they were only available for the dates stated. You can't blame Anet for your stupidity, you only have yourself to blame. Go ahead and quit but no one will follow you because Anet does so much for us that they don't have to plus, this is an awesome game. You messed up, not them. Get over it.

Friday I transfered some things from my main account to the preview account....but you know what I did Sunday night? I transfered them all back. It is not ANets fault you didn't use any foresight.

I have to agree with some of the replies here. A-Net did clearly state that this event was only till the 23rd, what did you think would happen?
And as far as not letting you back to the account, so that you can quit. My guess is they are just weeding out.

How can you say they have poor customer relations? I mean the event was good customer relations. Do you expect to (for example) use a piece of software you havn't paid for after the 30day free trial? The fact that the character is now locked is because it was an event... a taster for factions. You can't just go and complain and threaten to leave for that (well you can but you'll be missing out not me). As for "they should have warned me" they did! You just didn't pay attention... for shame...

I remember reading somewhere that after the event was over, you wouldn't be able to access the new characters or skills that were released during the weekend. Sorry you didn't get the memo, but did you actually think you could keep playing your assassin/ritualist if you just didn't delete them?

Did you delete your Paladin to use that pvp slot? You sound like the type to use Mending.

Arena Net specifically stated that the new classes were for temporary use, surely your failure to read that statement is the cause of the problem.

No, you were just ignorant of the information regarding the event.

Before you belittle the company in front of others, try to at least get your facts straight.

Seriously dude. I log on after the event is over with and I see my Assassin still sitting there in the login screen, if locked down. Surprised the hell out of me since I figured anything with A or Rt in its class tags was gonna be disappeared at the end of the event. I consider myself lucky I get to gaze upon the ownage until Factions releases.

It's not ArenaNet's fault your logic circuits are faulty. Seriously dude, if you didn't know there wasn't gonna be any way to access anything left on the char after the end of the event, then you're in need of a tune-up. Hell, I figure Anet was generous enough, letting Assassins and Ritualists finish RA streaks or HA runs and such after the event officially ended. I know I ran overtime in Ascent. So whether you quit or not over what really is a very minor thing is your business, but don't come crawling to us for sympathy :-P. Seriously, anyone with enough crap to need all four of his slots for storage is rich enough to need zero sympathy from me.

I'm certain you can just go and farm it all back, after all. And if you left eighty Ecto or some such on the Assassin...well, you're paying the medical bills for the hernea I'll get from laughing at you XP.

Goodbye. Good luck on trying to steer people away from this game when it was your own mistake.

Enough, I'm sure he doesn't need nearly a dozen people flaming and blaming him over and over again. To anyone who DOES have items locked on their pvp character i wouldn't worry too much. Another Factions event will take place soon and you will most likely be able to access those characters once again. So as long as you don't mind playing your pvp characters for awhile all is well.

Wow!

This guy came to the forums to cry on our shoulders, he is about to leave the game. And I think he has a legitimate complaint, and what do his fellow players do. They bash him over the head. Why do that? He is already thinking about quiting. You make it easy for him to do that. This forum is supposed to be helpful.

Hindsight 20/20 I dont know what I was expecting to happen with the Assassin I made, but I was surprised to see it still there but locked. I didnt expect to get to play that char after the weekend, I dont know WHAT I was thinking. The point is, I shouldnt have to delete items, nor should I have to wait until (the latest) June to get my items and my slot free. I think there should be a way to log in with any factions char. but not be able to do anything aside from access the pack and storage. I dont think thats a lot to ask.

We all make mistakes, some are more costly than others, but I see no reason to flame like I saw here on this thread.

So what your saying is., that it's okay for him to come on here and Bash
A-Net for his mistake. Blame them for something that is not their fault, and try and sway us to follow his lead.
but if we raise our voices in defense of A-Net and Bash him then we are being unprofessional?

NEWSFLASH

in big letters in thr very short FAQ on the event it stated that the characters/items would not be available until the next event/purchase

they clearly warned him.

they covered the shortage of storage as well by saying if you do not have a free pvp slot use one of the free accounts we are providing.

we do not need someone who goofs and then says it is Anets fault especially since he still can get his goodies later.

inconvenience at the worst.

he didnt ask for advice he came here to bash Anet

considering Factions has not been released what characters are you talking about?

he was flamed for saying it was Anets fault instead of taking any responsibility of his own. it is his mistake and he will try to hurt their sales because they wont pull someone off real work to open an account so he can get goodies he can get later

Well I admire you all for being defensive about comments regarding Anet. Because you are right, Anet does an awesome job. I think I read the Original posters message a little differently. I dont think posting in the forums (where the people who love this game more than anyone else) is a good way to "steer people away" so I just disregard that part, and try to address the issue, which was getting locked out.

I understand that they warned everyone, I got the warning too, and yet I still did make a mistake. Thats going to happen. I am not saying Anet did anything bad with the free weekend event, it was awesome, and best of all it didnt cost me a nickle. I am just saying, that perhaps this situation could be handled better on future releases.

Anyways, I got locked out too, it didnt hit me hard like it did the OP, but it could happen to others, and perhaps it did. I used to work in software developement and one of the main aspects of designing a product was "users are stupid" so when designing our products with that in mind we had to "stupid proof" the product (no offense to me, or the original poster LOL) OK Im done now.
